Question 1

Can I get a grant for solar panels through government energy schemes?

Accepted Answer

The standalone solar/battery grant closed on 6 June 2024. Solar can still form part of a wider home-energy package through government energy schemes, where loans up to £25,000 may be available across measures. Check current availability with the relevant government advice service.

Question 2

Who is eligible for government energy grants?

Accepted Answer

Government energy grants are for homeowners in Scotland who apply personally. Landlords are excluded. Eligibility for certain schemes may also depend on property type and income for means-tested programmes.

Question 3

How do I apply for government energy support?

Accepted Answer

Contact the relevant government advice service to assess what you are eligible for and guide you through the application. We can connect you with an installer partner who can design a system that qualifies.

Question 4

Is 0% VAT still available on solar and heat pumps?

Accepted Answer

Yes. 0% VAT on solar panels, battery storage, and heat pumps applies until 31 March 2027. Your installer applies the reduced rate automatically — you do not need to claim anything.
